We require that all grant applications have a Kiwanis member sponsor to be submitted for consideration.
We allocate between $15,000 – $25,000 in grants annually which are funded by donations from our members, from our modest endowment fund, and from an annual grant from the Lucy and Wilbur Sensing Donor Advised Fund.
We have a preference to fund grants with organizations where we can concurrently create an opportunity for our members to engage in a related volunteer project. We rarely fund events (i.e. golf outings, tastings, etc.). or fund organizations that aggregate funds to distribute to other 501(c)(3) organizations. While they are worthy fundraisers, as a community organization we seek a hands-on impact wherever possible and a direct allocation of our grant funding. We may consider proposals for strategic partnerships with non-profits in either of these areas if we believe they are synergistic. Grants requests between $500 and $2500 are typically within our ranges to consider for funding.
